COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS:
The By-Laws Committee– Shall endeavor to: Review the By-Laws and suggest changes, updates and revisions to the By-Laws as necessary; help to ensure that any policies and procedures as well as activities and committees of the IBA are in compliance with By-Laws; to be prepared to answer questions regarding the By-Laws during regularly scheduled meetings.
The Executive Committee– The duties of the President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer are outlined in Section 4 of the By-Laws.
The Historical Committee – Shall endeavor to: Document IBA events and speakers, via pictures and synopses. This information would be posted in a timely manner to the website and used in the IBA Newsletter, for marketing, membership, etc. The Committee Chair is required to own a working digital camera.
The Hospitality Committee– Shall endeavor to: Act as liaison between IBA committee chairpersons and caterers to meet the needs of members and guests at IBA approved events and meetings; use acceptable caterers to provide quality food and/or refreshments at IBA functions cost effectively.
The Marketing Committee– Shall endeavor to: Increase IBA exposure and visibility within the real estate community, to the general public and to individual member agents; develop and maintain advertising and promotional materials; inform media of IBA events and invite media to attend; see that events are posted in community calendars; create and manage templates for IBA events, assuring that all flyers or brochures for the IBA are professional and meet the general basic requirement of Who, What, Where, When and Why, and contain the IBA logo, contact information, directions to event, etc.
The NWMLS Relations Committee– Shall endeavor to: Report to the Board, and the General Membership, trends within the NWMLS; be a voice within the NWMLS for the independent broker; work for stronger representation and voting rights for the independent broker; work with other independent brokers within NWMLS board to accomplish the same; encourage IBA members to run for NWMLS Director positions, inform them of upcoming elections and provide profiles of candidates; encourage IBA members to attend NWMLS General Membership Meetings and to sit on other NWMLS committees, such as Forms, Disciplinary, etc; invite a representative from the NWMLS to present at a General Membership Meeting at least once a year.
The Newsletter Committee– Shall endeavor to: Edit and oversee the development of a periodic newsletter which will be emailed to all members. Articles shall include items of interest discussed at General and Board Meetings, recap presentations, and inform membership of NWMLS and industry changes, etc. Ideally the newsletter would be completed after the membership meetings the 3rd week of the month, proofed by the Board the final week of the month and distributed to the membership the first week of the next month.
The Programs Committee – Shall endeavor to: Schedule and coordinate program topics and/or speakers for monthly membership meetings three to six months in advance; follow-up with speakers to confirm their attendance; ensure any needed equipment (projector, laptop, etc.) is available; greet speakers, introduce them and thank them for their attendance.
The Special Events Committee– Shall endeavor to: Oversee all special events, including cruises, holiday parties, golf tourney, Emerald Downs Day and the Educational Conference (ED-CON).
The Technology Committee – Shall endeavor to: Oversee the IBA website(s); inform membership of technological changes and trends that could benefit the IBA and/or its members; communicate with other committees to see that events and news are incorporated into the IBA website(s) in an accurate and timely fashion. The chair of this Committee should be held by an IBA member who is computer savvy, has a working knowledge of websites and who can quickly and easily update the IBA website(s).
